Draft AACP Public Hearings Scheduled

ASPEN,COLO. (June 3, 2011) - The joint City-County Planning and Zoning Commissions are meeting throughout the summer to review and edit the draft Aspen Area Community Plan. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday June 10 from noon - 6pm in the Plaza 1 meeting room. The schedule for the meeting is:

12 - 12:30: Introduction
12:30 - 1:30: West of Castle Creek Chapter
1:30 - 3:00: Housing Chapter
3:00 - 3:20: BREAK
3:20 - 4:30: Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails Chapter
4:30 - 5:30: Environmental Stewardship
5:30 - 6:00: Wrap-up

Additional meeting will be held in June and July to review the "Managing Growth for Community & Economic Sustainability," and to finalize review of the other chapters. A complete schedule is available on our website: www.aspencommunityvision.com.

The most recent of the joint City-County 2011 Aspen Area Community Plan (AACP) was released in March and is available for public review at www.aspencommunityvision.com. Copies are available in the City Community Development Department, City Hall.

Public comments are welcomed at all meeting, and may also be posted on the AACP blog or on Facebook. Both can be accessed on the Get Involved page at www.aspencommunityvision.com.

The AACP is a character-based, ten year community plan for the Aspen Area created in collaboration between the City of Aspen and Pitkin County. It is used as a decision-making guide by both the City Council and County Commissioners.
